UNDER 9 TAG RUGBY TRIANGULAR TOURNAMENT
V DOWNHAM PREP. AND RIDDLESWORTH HALL

On Wednesday, 26th September, Glebe Under 9s played in a triangular tag rugby tournament at home. Riddlesworth won the first match against Downham Prep. by five tries to three.

We then played Downham in the second match. We chose to start with the ball and straight away Sammy made an amazing run and scored the first try. I scored two, Sammy scored another and Jack got one. We put in a lot of effort and we managed to win by five tries to three.

We knew that if we could beat Riddlesworth in our final match we would win the tournament. They started and scored straight away but then Matthew made a good run and got the equalizer. I scored three tries and we ended up victorious by four tries to three. My man of the match is Jacob for an amazing performance and creating some tries. We won the tournament by winning both our matches. Well done team!

Under 11s Rugby

The under 11’s played a match against a mixed team from Riddlesworth and Downham Market.

We started off well but were caught off guard, very quickly, by the incredible speed of one of the Downham players, he broke through our line and had scored a try almost before we’d even realised it! He was also very big and we were all a bit nervous of tackling him to begin with. Mr Turner gave us a good talking to about improving our defending and after that we all started to work together much better as a team.

We were very well matched and the final score was 7 all. Our try scorers were Archie, Will, Ferdi, Charlie and Edward got an amazing 3 tries. I think we played well but we all need to get more stuck in and be more determined, especially with our tackling.

My man of the match is Edward for scoring 3 tries, but Ferdi is also highly commended for his lightening speed.

Under 11 Girls’ Hockey

On Wednesday 26th of September we played a home match against Langley at Taverham. I lost the toss and chose ends. We started off well with Mabel scoring a goal after I set her up. In the second half we started off well playing more fluidly with me dribbling the ball past Langley’s defence and scoring from just inside the D. We continued to play well with Sydney hitting the ball out of defence up to Mabel who passed to Jasmin who scored. We ended up winning the match 3-0.

My girls of the game are Sydney for her expert defending and Jasmin for scoring her amazing goal! Well done girls for winning, let’s keep it up.

Under 13 Girls’ Hockey

On Wednesday 26th September we travelled to Gresham’s for a hockey match. We won the toss and chose ends. We started well with some good passes and played at a better pace around the pitch. After about 15 minutes after some great hassling by Daisy, Elise scored our first goal.

We started the second half under pressure from Gresham’s, but Kitty stayed strong in goal. We continued to play at pace and tried to get the ball wide as much as possible. After the whistle blew for full time we were all tired but happy to have sustained our 1-0 win. My girl of the game was Elise for being picked as Gresham’s girl of the game and a brilliant goal. Well done girls and thank you Mr Gladstone for taking us.

U9s Girls’ Hockey

On Wednesday the 26th of September we played Downham Prep School in a hockey match on grass.

I won the toss and choose to push back. We started poorly and were crowding the ball a lot, but we gradually got better. In the second quarter Orla scored our first goal. We continued to play well and in the third quarter Orla scored again, followed by one from me. This made the score 3-0.

My girl of the game is Kitty as it was her first time in goal and she made some good saves.

Well done team but we need to work on our speed.

Under 11 Rugby

On Wednesday, 19th September, the under 11 boys had a rugby match against Moreton Hall. After a long wait at the oak tree they finally arrived!
Because they were so late they didn’t get much time to warm up. We started with a free pass and Ferdi started very well, scoring a try right off the whistle.

Unfortunately we took our eye off the ball slightly and they took advantage of this, scoring 3 tries.
At half time Mr Turner gave us a very encouraging team talk and then we started well with Edward scoring a couple and Ferdi scoring a few more. The final score was 6-5 to them. My man of the match goes to Edward for being great all round.

Well done team, we just need to learn to pass before we get tackled!

Under 13 girls Hockey

On Wednesday 19th September, Moreton Hall came to Glebe for a match. We lost the toss and chose ends. We started off with the ball mostly in our possession, and strung together some good passes. We defended where necessary and put pressure on their goal. We won a short corner and I managed to score.
After an encouraging team talk from Mr Gladstone we started well. They came back into the game a bit, but our defence of Lily, Thaleia and Livi and Kitty in goal kept them out. Our midfield of Elise, Emily, Kate, Ruby and myself controlled midfield and Daisy made some excellent runs up front. We won another short corner and I scored again.
My girl of the game was Kate as it was her first match and she did really well. Next time we need to put even more speed on the game, but it was an excellent start. Well done!

UNDER 13 RUGBY AT BROOKE’S, CAMBRIDGE
Wednesday, 19th September

On Wednesday, 19th September, the Under 13s went to Brooke’s School, Cambridge, to play a mixed 12 a-side match with Morten Hall, Thetford Grammar and Brooke’s. We were paired with Moreton Hall and we played three 15 minute matches against Thetford and Brooke’s.

In the first match we started well and scored four tries without conceding. The second game was far more even and there were no tries. We started playing very well as a team in the last match which we won by two tries to nil. Joel and I scored the tries. My man of the match is Joel for going on some great runs and showing great effort and focus. Well done team.
