U11 Hockey v Beeston Hall

On a windy Wednesday 28th of November Beeston came to our Astro for a hockey match. I won the toss and chose first push back. We started off well with some solid defending, especially by Emelia who made some excellent saves in goal. However, Beeston managed to get into the D and scored 2 goals. Mabel also scored a goal in the first half from an excellent pass from Orla. In the second half, despite our best effort, Beeston scored another 2 goals. However, in the last few seconds of play, Orla scored an excellent goal from a great pass by Mabel.
My girls of the game are Eden and Emelia for their excellent saves. Well done girls.

Under 13 Girls’ Hockey triangular against St Hugh’s and Wellow House

On Wednesday 28th November Glebe travelled to St Hugh’s for two hockey matches.
Our first game was against Wellow House and we started rather slowly. The games were 12 ½ minutes each way and half time came and we had failed to score. After an encouragingly critical team talk we started the second half with more purpose and moved the ball better. We scored two goals and ended up comfortable winners.
The weather was getting worse so we played a shortened game against St Hughs. This was a much close game and we battled well, taking the lead in the first half. St Hughs pressed forward and scored a good equaliser to leave the score 1-1.
My girl of the games was Livi, as she played an unfamiliar role in midfield and did really well.

Friday, 30th November

The under 9 hockey team travelled to Greshams to play a triangular tournament against Wisbech and Greshams.

The first game was against Wisbech. In the first half, Tabby scored a goal from a free hit, which she took very quickly. Then soon after Tabby scored another goal. At half time it was 2 nil.
In the second half we came back quickly with Orla scoring another goal, then another!
We were so good in attack that I didn’t have to make any saves!
The final score was 4 nil to us. We were the strongest team but we need to pass more to our team mates, rather than just dribbling.

The second match was against Greshams.
Greshams quickly scored. We came back strongly and Orla scored us a goal, thanks to some good teamwork from everyone. The final score was 1 all. We need to space out more and use the whole width of the pitch.

My girl of the game is Orla for getting some great goals, but the whole team played really well.

Tuesday, 20th November

On Tuesday, 20th November, Glebe Under 9s went to Town Close to play a contact match. Benjy scored a try to give us a confident start and Jacob scored a great try by suddenly changing the direction of his run. We all made some great runs and Freddie Hawkins scored a good try. Benjy made some try saving tackles again and so did Jacob. In the end we lost the match by 13 tries to 11. Benjy scored 5, I scored 4 and Freddie Hawkins and Jacob each scored one. My man of the match goes to Jacob for his great all-round performance. We need to remember to tackle with our shoulders not our fingers but apart from that we had a great match. Well done team!

Match report – under 11’s Rugby versus Fairstead House

We had a strong start and played really well to begin with, but we tailed off a bit towards the end of the first half. We went into half time firmly in the lead. In the second half we let ourselves down and allowed them to catch up easily. We really need to work on supporting each other much more and playing together as a team. The final score was 8 all, with them getting a final try right on the whistle.
Archie gets my man of the match for being super speedy and scoring 3 amazing tries, but Ferdi was incredibly determined in his tackling and never gave up and Edward and Theo were super brave, coming back on and playing hard after getting badly winded.

Under 11s Rugby versus Beeston away

On Wednesday the 14th of November the under 11 boys played a match away at Beeston. We started off well with Ferdi scoring the first try we played very well in the first half. By the beginning of the second half we were drawing 2 all. We were all very tired so we let them get a try. Luckily Ferdi got another try so we were even at three all. With seven minutes to go we were all felling good they then got two tries and it ended 5-3 to them. My man of the match was Ferdi for scoring all the tries, well done this was definitely our best game yet.

Under 9s Rugby

On Friday 16th November Glebe U9’s played a tag rugby match against Beeston, we won the toss and chose to start.
We started off well with a few great runs down the pitch and i would like to mention Matthew and Freddie H for both having lots and lots of runs, at half time it was 5-1 to them with us scoring from Benjy. The second half started well with a try and unfortunately we conceeded some more, but overall this was a great match and Benjy scored the most amazing try I have ever seen because of this try and some great tags and runs my Man of the Match is Benjy.
We need to remember not to lose hope when we concede one or two,but apart from that we all played well and had a great game WELL DONE TEAM.

Under 13 Hockey vs Langley

On Wednesday 9th November the Under 13 girls had a hockey match against Langley @ Taverham . It was a windy, wet day and we started slowly. After some pressure from Langley we eventually got the ball into their half but they were the first to score. We pulled a goal back after a good passing move between Elise, Alice and Daisy. The score was 1-1 at half-time. We started with more conviction in the second half and quickly took a two goal lead. We ran out 4-1 winners with Daisy scoring three times and Alice once. Every one played their part, with Kitty outstanding in goal. All the subs made an impression, with Lily really showing an improvement in her defending. The girl of the match was Kitty for great goalkeeping.

We were all very excited about playing in our very first tag rugby tournament. We played five matches, drawing two and losing three. Matthew played very well and scored lots of tries and William was good at tagging people. Alfy, George Lantos and Angus from Div. II played very well in their first ever school matches. I think that our team was amazing and I can’t wait to play another match. Well done team!

Wednesday, 7th November

They scored straight away but then we came back and at half-time it was three tries each. Jacob and Stanley both scored a great try and I managed to get four. We ended up winning a very close match by six tries to five.

My man of the match is Joshua for a great performance in his first Under 9 match. We do need to concentrate more but apart from that we played a great match. Well done team!

Tuesday, 6th November

We played five seven a-side matches, drawing two and losing three. No positions were recorded. Our first match was against Town Close which we narrowly lost by four tries to three.

We then played a strong Town Close 1 team, losing by five tries to one.

Our third was against Langley 3. Our tackling started to improve in this game and it ended in a three all draw.

Our fourth match was against Gresham’s. I would like to mention Benjy and Sammy for some try saving tackles in this match. I scored three but unfortunately we lost by five tries to three.

Our final match was against Norwich Maroons. Benjy scored a superb try in this game. We drew this match four all.

I scored 8 tries in all, Benjy scored three and Freddie Hawkins, Matthew, Jacob and Stanley each scored one. My men of the tournament were Benjy and Sammy for a great all-round performance. Well done team!

We had a great team talk from Mr Lafaeti. We scored nine tries in the third and fourth quarter. We secured a 17-7 win.
