Anti-Bullying Week 2024: A Celebration of Kindness

Being kind, showing respect and offering support are core values at Glebe House School, so from November 11th to 15th 2024, we dedicated Anti-Bullying Week to promoting a week full of kindness.

While kindness is a core value promoted year round at our school, Anti-Bullying Week gave us extra focus to encourage supportive and respectful behaviour.

The week kicked off with pupils wearing odd socks to celebrate individuality and uniqueness. It was wonderful to see everyone expressing their personalities and spreading positivity throughout the school. It also coincided with official school photo day, so ensuring all children had their correct school uniform socks was an extra challenge.

We managed to incorporate World Diabetes Day into the week too, dedicating the Thursday to raising awareness and funds for Type 1 Diabetes research. With members of our community managing this condition on a daily basis, it’s a cause close to our hearts. We encouraged pupils to dress in what made them feel “Onederful,” and the children embraced the challenge wholeheartedly by wearing fun and vibrant outfits and raising over £120 for Type 1 Diabetes research.

To close the week, our Year 8 Wellness Prefects delivered a heartwarming assembly about the power of kindness. They illustrated how even the smallest acts can create ripples that brighten our community in an interactive and engaging assembly that was enjoyed by all in the Prep school.

We have two Kindness Trees in school, one in Pre-Prep and one in Prep, where Kindness Leaves are awarded weekly to pupils who show particularly kind behaviours and attitudes. By the end of this year, we are sure the trees will be overflowing with leaves, reflecting the exceptional kindness shown by our children throughout the year. Dedicating a week to focus on these values has been both inspiring and very colourful!
