U11 Rounders match v Kings, Ely
On Wednesday the 5th of May Fairstead House travelled to Glebe to play an U11 rounders match. It was our first match of the season, so we hadn’t had much practice but neither had Fairstead House. We started off batting and scored 14 half rounders and 2 whole rounders, 1 by Annabel and 1 by Gracie-Mae. Then we went into fielding and they had some good batters but with some good fielding we only let them score 6 rounders in total. At the end of the first innings the score was 9-6 to glebe. After changing the team slightly to allow everyone to play, we went into bat again with Gracie-Mae and Annabel both scored another rounder each and we scored 12 half rounders. Then Fairstead went into bat and we did some tight fielding, only letting them score 5 and a half rounders making the final score 17 – 11 and a half to Glebe. Well done team you all did well for the first match of the season, but my ‘Men of the Match’ are Gracie and Annabel for both scoring two rounders each and being accurate and alert in fielding. Well done team!
UNDER 9 KWIK CRICKET V FAIRSTEAD HOUSE
Wednesday, 1st May
The ‘A’ team won the toss and chose to field first of all. Each team starts with 200 runs and loses five runs if a wicket is lost. We bowled well and managed to restrict them to scoring just 232 runs. When it was our turn to bat we made a strong start with Stanley and I scoring quite a few runs. Our best partnership was Benjy and Freddie K who scored 35 runs between them. We easily passed our target and reached 323, thereby winning the game by 91 runs. Well done team! I would like to mention Jaybe who bowled really accurately and Benjy who fielded well. My man of the match though goes to Freddie K who batted brilliantly and played a very good match overall.
The ‘B’ team were really excited about playing their very first cricket match. We fielded first of all and took two wickets. Fairstead House scored 261 runs in total. We batted well and managed to score 285, winning the game by 24 runs. Well done everyone, in particular to Charlie who had never played cricket before! Joshua bowled really well but my man of the match is Freddie H for playing a very good all-round match, bowling accurately and scoring a lot of runs including five boundaries.
