On Thursday, 10 October 2024, Division V ventured on an exciting geography field trip to the River Glaven led by Mrs Haslam.
This trip, part of their geography lesson, was organised in collaboration with the Norfolk Rivers Trust. As it was only 35 miles from Hunstanton, the children travelled on the Glebe School minibus.
After arriving, the children spent the day exploring the River Glaven and its valley. They visited various parts of the river, conducting observations, measurements and investigations. The hands-on experience allowed them to apply their classroom learning in a real-world setting, despite a few wobbly moments with metre rulers and some wet socks!
One of the day’s highlights was discovering the historical significance of Wiveton, which used to be a bustling port before the river was drained. This revelation provided a fascinating glimpse into the area’s past and its transformation over time.
This trip underscored our commitment to providing educational experiences beyond the regular timetable, encouraging a deeper connection with the local environment and history. A big thank you to all the children for their impeccable behaviour and excellent company throughout the day!
